Meet Sugar!

Sugar is a 10-month-old Airedale Terrier mix with a warm, affectionate personality and a zest for life. Sugar is the perfect mix of calm and excitable. He spends a lot of his time chilling happily in the cool AC, but he is raring to go when it’s adventure or play time! He’s a perfect work from home companion since he is remarkably chill for his age. But don’t be fooled, he’s also a playful, goofy, frisky, bigger-than-he-realizes puppy.

Weighing 48 pounds and still growing, Sugar is in his gangly teen phase and soaking up every new experience like a sponge. He doesn’t shed much, has a naturally clean coat, and is a calm pup who thrives on routine and companionship. Sugar is fully potty trained and uses a doggy door like a champ—though he may need a refresher if it’s raining!

Sugar is deeply social and happiest when he’s near his people or playing with another dog. He loves to roughhouse, play tug, and explore outside, but he also has a tender side—tilting his head in submission and showing clear signals that he wants to be friends, even if his play style can sometimes be a little rough. He’s not crate trained and prefers to sleep cuddled up with a person, another pup, or both. He travels okay in the car but is still learning to feel comfortable on rides, and while he adores walks, he’s working on not pulling and staying focused—he just has so much to sniff!

This boy is smart and trainable but still very much a puppy. He’s improving on not jumping and not using his teeth during play but will benefit from continued guidance and boundaries. Sugar doesn't handle heat well during the intense TX summer, so cooler playtimes and plenty of rest are key.

With a fenced yard to roam, a canine sibling to romp with, and adopters willing to take time building trust and routine, Sugar is going to continue thrive and blossom. He’s the perfect loyal companion.

If you’re looking for a goofball puppy who will bring smiles to your life every day, adopt Sugar!

Sugar is being fostered in Lago Vista, TX and is adoptable in Central Texas.
