Meet Skye!

Meet Skye, whose “baby blue” eyes look like they belong in a George Strait song. At almost 5 months old and just under 11 pounds, Skye is a happy, healthy little puppy with a playful spirit and a heart full of love.

Skye enjoys tumbling around with other dogs, chewing on a good bone, and snuggling up with her humans, where her adorable puppy snores are guaranteed to make you smile. She also has the cutest floppy ears that pop straight up when she bounces around her playpen in excitement for treats.

She was rescued from the streets of the Rio Grande Valley, where she had been surviving on roadkill and trash. When she arrived, she was skin and bones with much of her hair missing. With veterinary care and consistent meals, she has made an incredible recovery and is now thriving in foster care, ready to find the forever family she deserves.

Skye’s mama is a Shih Tzu, and while we don’t know who her daddy is, we suspect he may have some terrier in him. Although she has the look of a wire-haired pup, her fur is actually incredibly soft, with beautiful tri-colored markings throughout.

Full of spunk and personality, Skye keeps her foster family laughing with her playful antics. Skye would do well in a home with a single person or a family where someone is around most of the time, as she loves human companionship. She would make an excellent work-from-home companion as long as she has a cozy bed and plenty of toys to keep her entertained, and she would love at least a small, fenced-in yard where she can romp around and do her adorable puppy zoomies. While a gentle doggy sibling would be a wonderful bonus for her, it is not required.

Because of her small size, Skye would do best in a home without very young children. She has recently completed her vaccines and will soon be able to start going outside, where her potty training can officially begin. Until now, she has been successfully using washable pads. We believe Skye will remain a small dog as an adult, making her the perfect little travel companion.

Skye is currently being fostered in Pflugerville, TX and is available for adoption throughout Texas and Northeastern States.
