Meet Porter – Resilient, Smart, and Ready to Love.

Porter may be small now, but this 3-month-old Lab/Shepherd mix has a big story — and an even bigger heart. He was found all alone by Border Patrol, struggling in the scorching Texas sun, overheated and in desperate need of help.

But Porter is a survivor — and today, he's thriving in his foster home, soaking up love, learning fast, and looking for his forever family.

Why the name Porter? Because he's a sleek, handsome black pup with a rich, warm soul — just like the drink!

This boy is smart, eager to please, and full of potential.

• Sleeps through the night in his crate like a champ

• Very responsive to gentle corrections

• Already knows “sit” and is working on leash skills

• Attentive, affectionate, and incredibly bright.

Porter has the perfect balance of puppy playfulness and chill vibes. He loves water (especially laying in it!), enjoys a good nap on the cold floor, and soaks up every ounce of affection you give. Whether he’s learning a new skill or just relaxing by your side, Porter is always tuned in and ready to connect.

Porter is wonderfully sweet and playful, but don’t forget that he is still a puppy, so he can be boisterous when over-excited. At 3 months old, he weighs 25lbs, so he’s likely to grow into a medium-large adult dog. For this reason, we would prefer to see him go to a home with an active family OR a doggie sibling, just some outlet for his puppy energy.

Black dogs like Porter are often overlooked — but don’t pass him by. He’s loyal, loving, and deeply grateful for a second chance. All he needs now is a forever home to call his own.

Porter is being fostered in Leander, TX and is adoptable throughout Texas and Northeastern states.
