Meet Poppy!

Meet Poppy! Poppy is a senior chihuahua mix with a heart full of love and a story full of resilience. She has overcome so much in her life, and through it all, she has remained deeply devoted to the humans she trusts. Once she bonds with you, she becomes your girl—loyal, protective, and endlessly affectionate. She does great with kiddos, but hopes to be the only animal princess in the home.

At 9 years old and weighing just 4lbs, Poppy is ready for a special home where she can live out her golden years with love and affection. Her adopters should be ready to care for a senior dog, since sometimes they need extra tlc (she doesn’t have any major health issues for now and the rescue is completing a dental surgery on her, but we hope that her adopters will be mindful of the needs of a senior dog).

Poppy would thrive as the only dog in her home. She loves people, but she prefers not to share her space, attention, or food with other pets. She’s protective of her human and her meals, which is why being a single dog is the best and happiest fit for her.

At her core, Poppy is an easy-going companion. She naps peacefully through most of the day, enjoys relaxing by your side, and is reliably potty trained—she goes outside but has also used a pee pad overnight when needed. Poppy would love to sleep with her human(s), because although she sleeps in a crate in her foster home, she much prefers to be with her people!

If you’re looking for a gentle, loving senior who wants nothing more than a quiet home and a human to adore, Poppy is ready to offer all the love she has. She’s a small dog with a big heart, hoping for a soft place to land and a person to call her own.
