Meet Maurice!

Meet Maurice! Maurice is a 4.5-month-old shepherd mix weighing about 32 lbs, and he has such a gentle, sweet, and endearing personality. He has a playful side but also a softer, more sensitive nature that makes him truly special.

He enjoys balls, squeaky toys, and chewing on bully sticks, and he loves to play and wrestle — especially with his brother and the larger dogs in his foster home. Maurice truly loves other dogs and feels most confident when he has a canine friend by his side. Having another dog in the home helps him feel secure and reassures him that everything is okay.

Maurice can be shy when meeting new people and needs a little time to feel safe. He doesn’t rush into new situations, but once he warms up, he happily leans into affection and enjoys being close to his people. He is treat motivated, which goes a long way in building trust and making training productive. He has already picked up “sit” and “come” very quickly and truly thrives with routine and consistency. He also loves mental stimulation — puzzle toys, snuffle mats, lick mats — you name it. Maurice will stay focused and engaged until he has found every last treat. He’s a smart boy who enjoys having a little “job” to do.

Maurice is crate trained and sleeps soundly through the night without a peep. He’s also making good progress with potty training and does very well when kept on a consistent schedule.

Maurice is a gentle, loving puppy who will blossom in a home that offers patience, structure, and ideally another confident dog to show him the ropes. With time and consistency, he is going to grow into an incredibly devoted companion.
