Meet Lincoln!

At 2 years old and about 20 pounds, Lincoln has already lived quite a life. Before coming into rescue, he spent his time surviving on the streets. But you would never know it from meeting him. Despite everything he’s been through, Lincoln is one of the sweetest, friendliest little guys around and seems to have decided that people are pretty great after all.

Lincoln is an easygoing, low-energy Miniature Schnauzer with just the right amount of playfulness. He loves toys, walks, being outside, belly rubs and BIG hugs. He’s affectionate and loves spending time with his people, but he’s also wonderfully independent and perfectly content entertaining himself or finding his own cozy spot for a nap.

He’s potty trained, sleeps through the night, walks great on a leash and has excellent manners around the house. He’s crated when his foster family leaves, although he’s been such a good houseguest that he may not even need it long-term. His one tiny habit? Occasionally collecting a shoe or another belonging to keep nearby—but he’s a collector, not a destroyer.

Lincoln gets along beautifully with dogs of all shapes and sizes. He’d likely enjoy having a canine buddy, but he’d be equally happy as an only dog as long as he gets plenty of time with his people.

At night, Lincoln chooses his own accommodations. Sometimes it’s the bed with his foster parents, sometimes the living room couch, and lately he’s been stealing the big dog bed at the foot of their bed. Independent king. And don’t be fooled by the occasional scowl—Lincoln has a serious case of RBF. Underneath that grumpy little face is one incredibly happy, sweet and loving dog.

One important requirement for Lincoln’s forever home is a secure, fully fenced yard. This former street boy absolutely loves being outside, and after spending so much of his life free to roam, that adventurous instinct is still there. If given an opportunity to explore beyond the yard, Lincoln will happily take it! His future family will need to be mindful about doors, gates and keeping him safely contained so his days of wandering stay firmly in the past.

After everything Lincoln has overcome, what he deserves now is pretty simple: people who will shower him with love while also giving him the freedom to be his independent little self—and remind him every day that he’s safe and home for good.

Lincoln spent the first part of his life surviving. He’s more than ready to spend the rest of it living.
