Meet Kira!

Meet Kira, the goodest girl in the world! This 1-year-old Shepherd mix weighs around 40lbs and is the perfect family companion.

Kira is an extremely sweet girl who is looking for a loving forever home. She is the perfect combination of playful and chill, snuggly but not clingy, and smart but not high maintenance! She loves her walks, loves to play fetch, loves to play with dog friends, and just generally loves life. Her happiness is contagious; she makes her foster parents smile every day! She has the most endearing habit of stretching when she is excited to see her humans, it’s hard to describe how adorable it is!

Kira gets along well with dogs, cats, and kids. She adores cats and tries to play with them as gently as she can, given her puppy excitement. Her foster parents have 2 cats at home, and she truly just loves them to pieces. Kira has spent time as the only dog at her foster home, but she also has shared her foster home with other dogs. She is happy as the only dog or as part of a pack, she really doesn’t mind. As long as she gets some doggie play time, she’s happy! Her play style is puppy and clumsy and just too adorable. She would love a fenced in yard in her forever home so that she can play and zoomie to her heart’s content.

Kira is completely potty trained, great in the car, and walks very well on leash. She is crate trained, sleeps through the night without a peep, and enjoys chilling in her open crate during the day. She is great when left home alone, simply choosing to sleep while waiting for her parents to come back. And on the occasions that she has sleepovers in her foster parents’ bed, she sleeps like an angel. Kira likes to go on adventures in new places and enjoys going to pup-friendly restaurants with her foster family. She is also an avid treat-lover and will do anything for treats.

When Kira was a young puppy, she suffered a broken leg just above her “ankle”. By the time she was rescued, it wasn’t possible to correct the break, so once she was old enough, she underwent surgery to fuse her ankle joint (tarsal arthrodesis), preventing any pain or instability from impacting her in the future. It has been 3 months since Kira had her surgery and she has recovered very well! She plays, runs, fetches, and acts like nothing ever happened. She uses her leg normally around 75% of the time and is thriving.
