Meet Jag!

If you're looking for a sweet, soulful pup with just the right mix of playfulness and calm—Jag might be the one. At 6 months old and weighing 30 pounds, this likely Lab/Shepherd mix (with a bit of mystery!) has been winning hearts with his gentle nature, soft eyes, and growing confidence.

Jag has settled beautifully into his foster home. He’s fully potty trained, crate trained, and sleeps peacefully through the night—though he won’t turn down the chance to snuggle in bed if invited. He’s made great strides on a leash and now looks forward to his daily walks. Car rides are still a little intimidating, but he’s learning they’re not so bad—it’s a work in progress.

While Jag may be a little shy when meeting new people, it doesn’t take long for him to warm up. Once he feels safe, his affectionate side shines. He loves being close to his people—curled up beside you on the couch or resting his head in your lap. He’s not one for being picked up, but he absolutely adores belly rubs and will happily flop onto the floor to ask for them.

And once he's comfortable? Jag’s personality truly shines. He’s endlessly sweet—but also wonderfully silly and goofy. He makes the funniest little noises, gets excited with floppy-ear wiggles, and brings so much joy with his playful antics. He’s got just the right mix of charm and quirk, and he keeps his foster family laughing every day.

Playful and easygoing, Jag has a lovely balance of energy. He’s always up for a game of zoomies or chasing his squeaky toys, but when it’s time to relax, he’s content to wind down right alongside you. He’s currently living with several dogs of all sizes and gets along well with everyone. He’s most confident with another friendly, playful dog in the home and would thrive with a canine companion. He’s also cat-friendly!

Jag is a quick learner who already knows sit, stay, come, and lay down. This little guy will do anything for a tasty treat, which makes training fun and easy. He’s also comfortable being left alone for a few hours—he settles quietly in his crate and has even done well with short periods of free-range time in the home.

One thing Jag truly loves is having the freedom to run and explore outdoors, so a fenced-in yard is a must for his forever home.

Because of his sensitive nature, Jag would do best in a calm, patient home that gives him time to decompress and feel safe. He would be a great match for adults or respectful, dog-savvy kids who can go at his pace and allow him to come out of his shell on his own terms. Once he does, you’ll see just how loving, goofy, and full of personality he truly is.

Jag is being fostered in Connecticut and is adoptable throughout the New England states.
