Meet Aster!
Aster is an 8-month-old dachshund/terrier mix who weighs about 20 pounds — the perfect size for someone looking for a smaller companion.
Aster is a sweet, calm-natured young dog who enjoys both quiet time and short bursts of play. She loves to run around with her foster sibling or play a quick game of fetch, but her favourite activity is cuddling up on the couch with her person.
She is kennel trained and finds comfort in her crate — it’s truly her safe space. At night, Aster sleeps peacefully on her dog bed without any issues and has settled nicely into her routine in her foster home.
Aster’s foster mom has been so impressed by how quickly she has learned that the world isn’t such a scary place. While she can be shy at first and a bit cautious in new situations, she gains confidence quickly once she realizes she is safe and loved.
Aster doesn’t like to share her food with her doggie friends, so her forever family will just need to make sure that she has a safe space in which to eat her meals. She also finds young kiddos to be a bit scary, so we recommend kiddos over 12 years old for her. Miss Aster can be a bossy boots with other dogs, so a home where she is the only dog, or a home where she has a submissive doggie sibling, would be ideal.
If you’re looking for a loving, gentle companion with a tender heart and a quiet resilience, Aster may be the perfect fit for you.
Aster is being fostered in Leander, TX and is adoptable throughout Texas and Northeastern states.
