Meet Amara!

Meet Amara, our beautiful German Shorthaired Pointer mix with stunning blue eyes. Amara is looking for a loving forever home with plenty of fresh air and snuggles.

Amara is a German name that means eternally beautiful, a fitting name for such a gentle, gorgeous girl. She is a lowkey girl who enjoys peaceful naps in the sun and lovings from her humans family. Her foster family say that she is sweet, calm, and smart. She also LOVES her food, which should make her easy to train. She will wake you up in the morning with a gentle kiss on the face, but she lets you go back to sleep if you ask her to!

Amara absolutely loves her walks! She would walk for miles if she could. She is an agile and athletic girl, who also loves to just hang out in the yard. She seems to enjoy the fresh air of the outdoors in general, and we’d love to find her an active forever family with a fenced yard! She loves her walks as much as she loves her naps, and she loves to go wherever her human goes. Amara makes friends wherever she goes, human and canine alike.

Amara gets along well with other dogs, but she doesn’t necessarily need them or rely on their presence. We think that she’s absolutely content being the only dog in the home. Amara has done daycare and dog parks and she’s wonderful with dogs of all sizes. Sometimes she lacks doggie social skills, so can come across as pushy with other dogs, but she means well. She isn’t big on playing with toys, but if you can get her engaged, she turns into a total goofball and riot when she's playing

Amara is around 4.5 years old, weighs 47lbs, and is completely potty trained. In fact, she will let you know when she needs to potty if you don’t take her out on time! She walks almost perfectly on leash and travels well in the car (although she doesn’t always love to get into the car!).

Amara does not like crates and does best when left home alone outside of the crate. Her foster family have left her for 4 hours and she just slept the whole time in her doggie bed! We do think that she suffers from mild to moderate separation anxiety and would love to find her a forever home with adopters who are home more than not. At night, she sleeps on her dog bed all night without making a sound.

Amara is looking for a home with strong female energy. We have noticed that while she loves all humans, she bonds strongly with females and is more aloof with males.

Amara is being fostered in New England and is adoptable throughout the region.
